Food Meets Future in Singapore

On 24 June, as part of S.Pellegrino’s 120th anniversary celebrations ahead of the announcement of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants, a special event will take place on the theme of ‘Food Meets Future’. The event will be co-hosted by Massimo Bottura, of Osteria Francescana, the current holder of The Wold’s Best Restaurant 2018 title.

The event will allow a selection of 50 Best Chefs the opportunity to explore, collaborate and commit to a more inclusive future, encouraging positive changes in the food and restaurant culture.  

José Andrés, newly announced as the winner of the American Express Icon Award, will address the assembled audience on the responsibility chefs have to help feed the hungry. He will also take part in a Q&A session along with Bottura and other chefs where young talents will have the chance to quiz their heroes. Singaporean pastry chef Janice Wong will also be present creating an amazing edible art installation.

More than a celebration 

To mark S.Pellegrino’s celebration of its 120th anniversary this year, World’s 50 Best Restaurants will be extending their prestigious annual restaurant list from 50 to 120, as well as hosting a special birthday event on the future of gastronomy. 

On 18 June, a week ahead of the 2019 World’s Best Restaurant awards ceremony, sponsored by S.Pellegrino, the special extended list of restaurants ranked 51 to 120 will be announced.

The extended list will shine the spotlight on even more brilliant chefs and restaurants around the globe where intrepid international diners can expect a raft of first-time entrants in locations spanning Belgium to Russia, Mexico to Macau. In total, 44 different cities in 25 countries will be represented with restaurants in the 51-120 list.
